Moccasin Identifier unveiled the Nahneebahwequa (Catherine Sutton) Installation at the MCFN Council House in Hagersville on May 21, 2026, bringing together community members, descendants, leaders, and partners to honour the legacy of the influential Indigenous leader known for her advocacy, courage, and commitment to justice. The installation recognizes Nahnee’s lasting impact on treaty education, land recognition, and the importance of knowing whose land we are on—values that also inspired Moccasin Identifier founder Carolyn King to begin the organization’s work. The unveiling featured traditional opening remarks, speeches from community leaders and descendants, and a moccasin stenciling activity that encouraged reflection and treaty awareness. Moccasin Identifier also acknowledged the support of MCFN Chief and Council, Nahnee’s descendants, Elders, community members, and the Greenbelt Foundation, whose funding helped make the installation possible.
