School Presentations & Camps

The Moccasin Identifier’s educational programming is designed specifically for students from Early Years through post-secondary education. We deliver engaging, age-appropriate presentations within school settings and with youth, working with groups ranging from individual classes to larger grade-level or school-wide sessions. When presenting to larger groups, sessions are thoughtfully scheduled throughout the day to ensure content remains accessible, relevant, and manageable for each age group.

Our presentations explore key topics such as Treaties, First Nations traditional territories, connection to the land, and what it means to be a Treaty person.

Programming is tailored to different learning stages, with dedicated content for Early Years to Grade 3, Grades 3–5, Grades 6–8, Secondary school, and adaptable delivery for post-secondary audiences. Each session is designed to support meaningful learning, reflection, and engagement in a way that is appropriate for students’ age and understanding.

Presentations can be delivered in-person, virtually, or in a hybrid format, depending on the needs of the school or institution. We also offer flexible delivery approaches, including smaller group sessions that allow for more interaction and discussion. When possible, we encourage outdoor, land-based learning experiences that move beyond traditional classroom settings. These sessions can be delivered without the use of a PowerPoint, using a more experiential, discussion-based model that supports connection to the land and aligns with First Nations ways of teaching and learning.

A hands-on moccasin stenciling activity is included with all presentations with the exception of our virtual approach (moccasin colouring sheets will be provided as an alternative). MI supplies all materials including non-toxic, washable paint, stencils, paper, paint trays, and rollers. Stenciling can be conducted outdoors or indoors such as in a gymnasium, classroom or library. One table per 20–30 participants will be requested, with a maximum of 8 tables (classes) at one time. We will reference the MCFN Treaty and Traditional Territory Map during our presentation.

Virtual

Virtual educational presentations cover the same core content as in-person sessions. MI provides pre-learning activities and discussion prompts in advance so students are prepared with questions and a basic understanding of what we will be discussing during our time together. Sessions include guided PowerPoint presentation, discussion, and Q&A.

Live stenciling is not included. Moccasin stencil kits from the MI Shop are optional; colouring sheets are provided as an alternative.

This session can accommodate 2-3 classes at one time.
